The short version: I collect your email so I can send you the newsletter. I never sell it. This site sets no cookies and nothing here follows you between visits, though I do count page views. You can leave with one click, from any email I send.
AI with Pelumi is a newsletter run by Pelumi Fatoye in Lagos, Nigeria. This page explains what happens to your data when you subscribe, and what you can do about it.
What I collect
When you subscribe:
- Your email address. The only thing required.
- Your first name, if you choose to give it.
- A consent record — the signup wording you agreed to, the date and time, and the IP address and browser signature of the request. This is how I can prove you actually subscribed, and how I keep bots out.
Subscribers who joined through the old Substack publication were carried over with their original signup date, and their consent record notes that origin.
No cookies, and anonymous page counts
This site sets no cookies and uses no local storage. Nothing is saved on your device, and there is no advertising tracker anywhere on the page.
I do count visits. Vercel Web Analytics records that a page was viewed, roughly which country it was viewed from, what kind of device was used, and which site or link sent you. It does that without a cookie and without any identifier that survives between visits. So it can tell me how many people arrived from a video, but not which one of them was you, and not whether you ever came back. That is also why there is no cookie banner here and nothing to opt out of.
One thing worth naming: the page loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts Google's servers and Google receives your IP address as part of that request. That happens on page load, not at signup.
What it's used for
One thing: sending you the AI with Pelumi newsletter. No advertising profiles, no selling or renting your address, no sharing it with anyone else for their marketing.
Who processes it
Three services handle data on my behalf, each acting only on my instructions:
- Supabase — hosts the subscriber database.
- Resend — delivers the emails and keeps a mirror of the mailing list. Resend processes data in the United States.
- Vercel — hosts this website and the signup endpoint, and provides the anonymous page counts described above. Standard server logs, including IP addresses, pass through it.
How long I keep it
Until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete you. When you unsubscribe, your address stays on an internal suppression list so I don't accidentally email you again. Ask and I'll erase it entirely.
Your choices and rights
- Unsubscribe — one click, in the footer of every email, effective immediately.
- Access, correct, or delete your data — email me and I'll handle it within 30 days.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under the Nigeria Data Protection Act, the GDPR, or similar law. Ask and I'll honour them.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the newsletter will say so before the change takes effect.
